Draws and results.
New Roof and a New Court Lighting Policy
As a result of the new roof being installed on courts 1-6,
effective September 1, the Club has adopted a new court lighting policy.
To support a decision on the new policy, the club learned that the industry
standard for indoor tennis court lighting is between 75 and 100-foot candles
per court. At BETC, on courts 1 - 6, the average foot-candle reading when 3
bulbs are in use is 83. On courts 7-9, with the benefit of the skylights on
a day with severe overcast, and the addition of 1 bulb, the average
foot-candle reading is 82. Since both of these averages are within the industry
standard, effective September 1, 2008, the club will operate lights at those
levels. As it was before the new roof was installed, one session before dusk,
the courts with skylights (7-9) will be increased to full power. Charts and
other data are available for your perusal on the bulletin board at the entrance
to the club. Spreadsheets showing the lighting levels at
BETC versus other clubs may be found on the bulletin board
at the main entrance.
